Founded in Washington, DC, in 2004, the Center for Democracy and Human Rights in Saudi Arabia (CDHR) is an independent, nonsectarian, non-profit educational 501 (c) 3 organization. CDHR promotes reform based on gender equality, religious freedom, freedom of expression, accountability, and transparency under a pluralistic rule of law.
CDHR was established to provide authentic current and historical information and analysis about the Saudi dynasty’s fanatical doctrine, domestic and external policies, and its relations with regional and global states, specifically the U. S.

U.S.-led coalition bombardment of Yemen and Yemenis CDHR Commentary: The U.S.-led coalition bombardment of Yemen and Yemenis (Jan. 2024) will never work. Many misled adventurers, of which the Saudi and Emirati absolute oligarchs’ invasion and stunning defeat (Sept. 2014-2022) and the destruction of Yemen are vivid examples. This is due to outsiders’ ignorance of the mountainous country and its fierce population of 33 million. Yemen has some of the most spectacular historical and natural sights and the perfect climate for all kinds of food products. It can be developed into a regional and global tourist money-making destination. The billions of dollars the Saudi and Emirati condescending dynasties wasted on the destruction of Yemen could have been used for the construction of life-sustaining necessities. This is the time for a visionary and pragmatic approach.

International Republican Institute Event

The Washington-based International Republican Institute (IRI) hosted an informal in-house educational discussion about Saudi Arabia on September 19, 2023. Four Saudi American experts and human rights activists, introduced by Ali H. Alyami of CDHR, presented diverse viewpoints on different aspects of the current Saudi internal and external political, social, and economic trends. The presentations were followed by cordial, thought-provoking questions by IRI’s well-informed staff.
